There's no need to struggle with breastfeeding, and no need to leave your home for help!

Initial postpartum visits usually last 1.5 to 2 hours, and include a full assessment of parent and baby (or babies), observation of breastfeeding and/or pumping, test-weight feedings to assess milk transfer (if appropriate), a customized feeding plan (if needed), and time to answer all of your questions. After our consults, I send a progress note to your primary care provider and your baby's, if you have consented to this. I provide nonjudgmental, evidence-based support focused on helping you meet your breastfeeding goals.

Prenatal visits are about 1 hour long and are useful for those who are preparing to breastfeed after a previous difficult breastfeeding experience, wish to induce lactation, have health issues that may impact breastfeeding, are expecting multiples or an infant with possible health challenges related to prematurity or congenital defects, or wish to discuss breastfeeding  with a lactation consultant prior to baby's arrival. I also offer in-home, private classes if you would like more formal instruction about the basics of breastfeeding. These classes can be tailored to your specific needs.

Email, text, and video support

Very often, unraveling breastfeeding concerns is more complicated than it may seem, and email, text, and phone cannot take the place of an in-person visit. Aside from answers to very general questions, I do not provide support over email, text, or phone until after an initial visit. Once we have met in person and I have a better understanding of your situation, I can continue to provide support in email, text, and phone, although some circumstances require further in-person consultations.

Your initial postnatal consultation includes unlimited email, text, or phone follow-up for one month.

A note about privacy: Email exchanges with me are protected per HIPAA guidelines. Text exchanges are not. When exchanging text messaging with care providers, please be aware that the communication may not be secure and avoid sharing protected health information.

I do not provide video consultations at this time, out of concern for maintaining compliance with HIPAA.
